About 60 people in line. Apple store manager greeted everyone with a handshake, and promised water for everyone. It’s been 3 hours of Apple talk with likeminded people. Conversation with kid who was born the year I first used a Mac in 1990.
Line has moved to the mall door in anticipation of opening.
3:00 AM and I’m 4th in line at the Ft. Lauderdale Galleria Mall Apple Store. Wasn’t sure what to expect - if I’d be 1st or 30th. Weston AT&T store had about 30 people in line at 4:00.

An article in Strategic name revealed how last Christmas had set the tone for toy naming in 2008.
* Safety is Key: Any part of your name that tells us your toy is “safe” or “caring” is a good idea.
* Made in China? There is no question that the Made in China label took a huge knock last year and the fallout will continue through 2008. Look for an up tick in toys “Made in the USA” as well as an advantage in brand name toys vs. no-name toys.
* Green Toys: Toys that are made in an eco-friendly manner, those whose brand naming reflect recycled sources or toys that do not use batteries will see an up tick. Also, Eartheasy has declared that “regifting is ok”.

Yes, we’re launching the new IDY Creative. And we’re narrowing our core services: Naming, Focus Groups, Corporate ID, Packaging Design, Multimedia and Web Design. We’re targeting inventors, entrepreneurs, and companies or individuals with a new product idea or whose product needs a make-over.
Oh, and this thing we’re calling “Virtual Photography” (or something like it). We model and render your product in 3D on the computer, eliminating the need for expensive, clumsy, and frankly imperfect photography. Another great advantage of Virtual Photography is that changes in the package, lighting, camera angle, etc. can be made quickly and easily. Try that with a traditional photo shoot!
The whole idea is to help you get your product or service seen by your target audience, which will generate sales.

I’m going to create a packaging design “Hall of Fame“, and post my favorite examples. There will be rules set up - no entries prior to 1950 or so… I’ll get back to you on this. Don’t confuse ours with the Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Institute’s, or anyone else’s HOF. Maybe we’ll call it IDY Creative’s Packaging Design All-Stars or something.
I’d love to get everyone’s feedback and submissions.
Of course, if a packaging design Hall of Fame exists out there on the web, please tell me.
